Islands’ Plastic Cleanup Project

The Islands Plastic Cleanup Project is earmarked for early implementation, as one of the first and most prominent programmes of MOPA. The project brings together stakeholders on three different island communities, and involves a comprehensive plastics collection and safe recycling networking exercise, with a special focus on PET bottles. Collection banks will be introduced and transportation networks established to ensure that plastic waste on these islands will be handled safely and sustainably, and transferred to Thilafushi waste disposal facility.
